Bakhita’s Prayer
Bakhita’s Prayer is a documentary film following an investigation by Sixth Form students as they try to understand human trafficking and modern slavery. Their journey begins with watching “This Is My Body”, a stage play about human trafficking, which then leads them on to interviewing people at the forefront of the fight against modern slavery, including Cardinal Vincent Nichols. The students also meet a Nigerian woman who survived forced prostitution in the UK, and learn about the life of St Josephine Bakhita, a 19th Century Sudanese woman who was freed from slavery and forgave her captors.
“Bakhita’s Prayer” is a fascinating documentary film which provides fresh insight into the world of modern slavery, particularly for young people.
